Kid's Fabric Fun/ Adult Drawing Class in Stellarton
With the help of Paul Corbin and Stellarton Recreation I put on a week-long kids camp and a day-long adult class at the Town Hall. On July 14th, I had the pleasure of teaching a group of wonderful ladies. Using graphite and charcoal, we concentrated on proportion, shading and observation and the techniques involved. Kid's Fabric Fun ran August 13th-17th and we had a blast making puppets, 3D fabric animals, woven bracelets, woven art, and pompom creatures. Thanks Stellarton!
Art Circus
On Monday the 12th, in the week of March Break I taught a class at the Art Galley of Peterborough from 9am-12pm for ages 4-7 and from 1pm-4pm for ages 8-12. Art Circus: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the circus! Paint a clown face, decorate your tent with banners and patterns. Let your imagination soar above the big top as you add a trapeze swinger or tightrope walker.
Windows under the Water
Tuesday March 13th I taught Windows under the Water. It was a half day camp which ran 9am-12pm for ages 4-7 and 1pm-4pm for ages 8-12. Look at the shapes and colours of the beautiful underwater world. Learn to create a stained glass effect with paper, glue, stencils and paint. Create a light-catching 'stained glass' artwork to hang in your window and watch as the sun brings your seascape to life.
Nature Story
During March Break I gave a class called "Nature Story" (Wednesday March 14th). Half day camps 9am-12pm for ages 4-7 and 1pm-4pm for ages 8-12. Bugs will crawl and birds will fly away with your story!
Puppets!
I gave a workshop on puppet making at the Peterborough Public Library Thursday March 15th. Elmo, Grover, Ernie,... Take inspiration from Jim Henson and make your very own character come alive on your arm. Thick eyebrows, long braids, animal fur, big eyes, crazy colours...... it's your choice! Learn how to transform a recycled plastic container and some fabric into a magnificent puppet.
"Let's Play!"
I taught a March Break class at the Peterborough Museum & Archives Friday March 16th, it was called "Let's Play". Make a board game like Monopoly or get creative and come up with your own rules. Use wood or board, dice and create your own playing pieces. Challenge your senses with momory, smell, and sound guessing games. Make a speedy spinner, ring toss, hoop ring, relay races and a fishing game. Then bring them all home to play with your friends!
